Independent Glass-Matching Guide

Fenomax Window Glass Repair in Hamilton

Replacing one foggy pane is not only a sizing exercise. Coating, tint, spacer, grids and reflections affect how the repaired window looks beside the original glass.

Residential windows requiring glass matching and service
Match More Than the Opening

One new sealed unit can stand out in a group of older panes

An existing Fenomax combination window may contain several separate insulated glass units. When only one seal fails, glass-only replacement can preserve the frame—but the new unit should be specified with the neighbouring panes in mind.

Windows Hamilton checks overall thickness, glass treatment, spacer colour, internal or surface grids, safety requirements and the appearance of adjacent units. Exact visual matching cannot always be guaranteed because original coatings and components may have changed or aged.

We provide independent assessment after any applicable Fenomax warranty route has been checked. We do not claim to be the manufacturer, its warranty administrator or a loose-parts retailer.

Technician reviewing several panes in a window grouping
Confirm Which Pane Failed

A multi-section window contains separate service decisions

Mark the exact pane and photograph the entire grouping so proportions and matching requirements remain clear.

One pane fogs in a combination

Identify the individual unit rather than measuring the complete frame. Each section can have different dimensions or safety needs.

Grid pattern appears uneven

Internal bars, removable grilles and simulated divisions require different matching. Photograph intersections and bar width.

Newer glass reflects differently

Low-E coatings, tint, sky and interior light can change colour and reflection. Review acceptable variation before ordering.

Appearance and Condition Both Matter

Do not preserve a failing sash for the sake of one matched pane

Glass-only work may fit

The assembly is sound and match is acceptable

A single failed unit can often be addressed independently when the surrounding frame, sash and other panes remain dependable.

  • Exact failed section is identified
  • Glass specification can be confirmed
  • Visual variation is understood
Replacement may fit

The grouping has broader problems

Consider a complete composition when multiple seals have failed, operating sashes are weak or exterior proportions need to change.

  • Several panes show failure
  • Frame or sash is deteriorated
  • New ventilation or style is desired

Matching Has Practical Limits

Age, coatings and discontinued details affect the result

Even when dimensions are exact, a new pane may look brighter or more reflective beside older Fenomax glass. Spacer technology and grid components may also differ from the original production period.

Photographs help establish the goal, but final decisions should use available samples and documented glass data. If an exact match is essential across a prominent grouping, replacing several related units may deserve consideration.

Windows Hamilton is an independent service business and is not presented as the manufacturer, an authorized dealer or the warranty administrator for Fenomax Windows. Brand and product names belong to their respective owners.

Photograph the Entire Grouping

Details needed for a Fenomax glass request

Circle the failed pane

Send a full-window photo marked to identify the exact unit that fogs or is broken.

Capture grids and spacer bars

Include close-ups of bar width, intersections, colour and printed spacer information.

Show neighbouring reflections

Take a daylight photo at an angle so differences in tint or coating are easier to discuss.

Test the operating sash

Report whether it opens, stays in position, closes squarely and locks without force.

Match the Pane to the Composition

Have one foggy Fenomax pane in a larger window grouping?

Send Windows Hamilton a marked full-window photo, close-ups of grids and spacer labels, and the affected pane’s approximate size. We will assess sealed-glass replacement, matching limits and the condition of the sash that will remain.
