Move the left sash, the right sash or both

A double-slider uses two operable sashes that travel horizontally within the frame. Opening either side gives you more choice about where air enters than a single-slider, while the side-to-side movement avoids an outward projection.

Cleaning Features Vary

Confirm how each sash and screen come out

Some double-slider designs allow one or both sashes to be lifted or released for cleaning. The exact method depends on the product. It should be demonstrated rather than treated as a universal feature.

Tracks and drainage areas also need routine access. Grit can make the sash difficult to move, while blocked drainage paths can interfere with water management. Follow the care instructions for the selected window and avoid forcing a sash that has changed position.

Both sections should glide without lifting out of the track, binding or needing excessive force.

Do the meeting rails align?

The centre connection and locks should meet as designed when the window is closed.
