Make the area safe

Document the complete opening
Photograph the window from a safe distance, then capture the frame, labels and damaged area without touching the glass. Include an exterior view only when access is safe.
Note whether the window is single-pane, insulated or part of a door. Tempered, laminated and annealed glass behave differently, and matching safety requirements matters.
Temporary protection and permanent work are separate
An emergency visit may focus on stabilizing or protecting the opening. Accurate glass measurement, fabrication and return installation can require a separate step.
If the frame or sash is also damaged, glass alone may not restore security or weather protection. The complete condition should be reviewed before a permanent scope is confirmed.
