A Slate-Blue Entrance With Decorative Glass
A tall entrance system became the signature feature of a broader renovation that also included a bay window, white replacement windows and a new patio door.
The Entrance Leads, but the Windows Complete the Home.
The entrance combines a full decorative-glass door, a glazed sidelight that can open when extra clearance is needed and a fixed transom above. Painting the complete system one slate-blue tone helps all three pieces read as a single architectural feature against the warm brick.
The scrollwork is visible from outside, but its effect is even clearer from the foyer. Softened glass keeps the entrance bright while the dark decorative lines give the door and sidelight detail that can be appreciated from across the hall.
Elsewhere, the project used white retrofit windows, including a bay window, large rear casement groups, a laundry slider and basement windows. The consistent white frames keep the window package quiet enough for the coloured entrance to remain the focal point.
A new sliding patio door completed the rear of the home. Together, the door and window work improve several different openings without forcing every part of the exterior to make the same visual statement.
